What an independent second opinion on a wealth structure is

An independent second opinion on a wealth structure is a fixed-fee, written review of how a family's wealth is organised: custodians, entities, reporting, advisors and controls. It is produced by a party with no product to sell and no mandate to win, and it states what is fine, what is fragile and what to change.

What you receive

A one-page map

Every custodian, entity, advisor and reporting line on one page, as it actually is today.

The verdict, in order

What is fine, what is fragile, what we would change, ranked by consequence, not by effort.

The next ninety days

The two or three moves worth making first, with what each one costs and who should do it.

Who it is for

  • Founders and executives after a liquidity event, with two or more banks and no consolidated view.

  • Families with entities in more than one jurisdiction and reporting that arrives in different formats.

  • Anyone who has been told to "set up a family office" and wants an independent view before hiring anyone.

It is

  • An independent, written assessment of your operating set-up: custodians, entities, reporting, advisors, controls.
  • Specific recommendations, prioritised, with the reasoning written down.
  • Paid by you only. No commissions, no referral fees, no products.

It is not

  • Investment, tax or legal advice. We tell you where to get it and what to ask.
  • Portfolio recommendations or a view on any security, fund or manager.
  • A sales call. The opinion is the product; the full engagement is optional.

Questions before you start

Is a written second opinion investment advice?

No. It assesses how your wealth is organised: custodians, entities, reporting, advisors and controls. It does not recommend securities, funds or managers and is not regulated investment, tax or legal advice. Where you need those, it tells you what to ask and whom to ask.

What do I need to send?

Recent statements from each bank or broker, a list of entities with who owns what, and any existing structure chart. Scans and exports are fine. If something is missing, we say so in the opinion rather than guess.

How is the €1,500 paid?

By invoice from PWA Advisory Ltd. once the intake is accepted, payable by bank transfer. VAT is applied where applicable and shown on the invoice. There is no payment before you have a confirmed start date.

How confidential is this?

Entirely. Documents are received by email, read by Pedro Souto only, and deleted on request after delivery. No client list, no case descriptions, no references without written consent.

What happens after the opinion?

Nothing, unless you want it to. About a third of readers ask PWA to implement part of the recommendations; the rest use the document with their existing advisors. Both are fine outcomes.

Can my lawyer or accountant request it for me?

Yes. Intermediaries often commission the opinion on behalf of a client. Fill in the form with your details and say who the family is in the final field; we take it from there.

Is a second opinion on my private bank independent if it is free?

No. A free review is paid for by the mandate the reviewer hopes to win, so its conclusions lean towards that mandate. Before accepting one, ask who pays for it and what the reviewer can sell you afterwards. Under MiFID II, firms in the EU must tell you whether their advice is independent.

Does the second opinion include investment recommendations?

No. PWA does not manage money, hold mandates, take commissions or give regulated investment, tax or legal advice. The opinion covers how your wealth is organised, not which securities, funds or managers to hold. Where a decision needs an investment, tax or legal view, it names the question and the kind of advisor to ask.
